The Blair Witch Project? Half of it was shot on 16mm, and the hand held camera was the point. Beside it looked like SHIAT. Is that what you want your film to look like?

Black and White also makes a difference.

BW increases resolution by 50 video lines.

Mini-Dv is not really that high resolution, Digital-S is actually a bit better.
